Originally engaged as Project Managers to oversee the construction of the new Regeneration Project at Wodonga Senior Secondary College, Bryant Alsop was engaged as architects to re-design the science laboratories to meet contemporary teaching expectations as well as current standards and WH&S requirements. 5 general laboratories were designed for physics, chemistry and general science; as well as a ‘super lab’ for focussed teaching of smaller groups. Back-of-house spaces including preparation spaces, staff desks and chemical storage were included. The design focussed on creating open, accessible work areas with clear visual connection to demonstration benches and fume cupboards from all spaces, as well as visual connections between adjacent learning areas. The interior design continued the strong colour language of the building we had developed, with sharp accents off-setting a more muted work area. Coat cupboards in orange continue this theme, maintaining a consistent graphic throughout the rooms.
