Social Responsibility
Since 2021, Bryant Alsop has been a corporate sponsor of the PukaUp Ride—a 311.4km ride over 3 days in recognition of the 3,114 people who died by suicide in 2021. With an average of 8.6 Australians dying by suicide each day, this figure is more than double the national road toll for the same year.
Led by Director Richard Bryant, and aligned with his work on the Architect’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Forum through the Association of Consulting Architects, we are committed to addressing the mental health needs of our staff, their families, and friends. PukaUp’s work, including their Foundations of Wellbeing program developed with the University of Melbourne and Allfie, is a meaningful way to make a positive impact.
Founded by former AFL footballer Wayne Schwass, PukaUp is a cause-driven organisation working to end suicide. By promoting education and open conversations about mental and emotional wellbeing, PukaUp focuses on prevention rather than crisis, helping people take control of their wellbeing before reaching a critical point.

“PukaUp is a cause-driven organisation, here to achieve our vision of ending suicide. As mental health advocates and storytellers, we believe education and facilitating open conversations about mental and emotional wellbeing is the key to keeping people healthy and ultimately preventing suicide. We work in the prevention, rather than the crisis space for a very important reason: we don't believe that people should become unwell, or reach crisis point, before taking control of their wellbeing.”
Giving Back
From July 2023, Bryant Alsop has committed 1% of gross income annually to charities and organisations that reflect our values across three key areas:
Mental Health & Wellbeing
Indigenous Support
Sustainability
As a small practice, we believe this is an industry-leading example of supporting causes that give back to communities.
Parental Leave
In 2024, we implemented a Parental Leave policy to support parents in our profession. Staff on parental leave receive:
Superannuation for up to 52 weeks
Accrual of long service leave for up to 52 weeks
These measures aim to support young parents and promote long-term equality within the workplace.
Community Responsibility
We recognise that our staff are part of a broader local community, not just the Bryant Alsop team. To encourage community contribution, we provide 3 days of paid community leave annually, enabling staff to volunteer for charities and support the physical, social, or mental wellbeing of those in need.
Staff Wellbeing
The wellbeing of our team is central to our success and delivering positive outcomes for clients. We offer a dedicated Employee Assistance Programme available 24/7 for staff and their immediate families.
While our doors are open from 8:30am to 6:00pm, we recognise that life sometimes throws curveballs. We offer flexibility for childcare, vet visits, and other personal needs. Additionally, staff receive up to 5 extra days of annual leave, spread across months without public holidays, providing a long weekend every month.
Environmental Responsibility
Our team is taking steps toward becoming fully carbon neutral. Beyond mindful design decisions, we have offset our operational CO2 emissions through carbon credits accredited under the VERRA Verified Carbon Standard.
